Embrace Letting Your Light Shine
How did you respond the last time you were given a complement? The last time someone thanked you for one of your gifts or talents? It’s not uncommon to hear women minimize or down play their gifts. And doing this will impact your self-esteem. You are not valuing or respecting yourself when you minimize your contributions. And down playing your gifts is the opposite of what the Lord has asked us to do.
Let your light shine! What images come to mind when you visualize this concept? Bright, warm, radiating, being seen, joy, smiling, are some that come to mind for me. You have been given specific gifts and talents. Rather than down play what the Lord has asked you to share, you can embrace letting your light shine by living with faith, confidence, and purpose. Here are six ways you can start::
1. Embrace Your Divine Identity
Recognize and cherish your identity as a divine daughter of God. Knowing your worth allows you to radiate confidence and kindness, inspiring those around you. Write out your personal worth statement. Here’s a guide to walk you through the process…
2. Use Your Talents to Serve
Whether through music, leadership, teaching, or creativity, your unique talents can bless others. Look for ways to uplift and serve in your family, church, and community. Make a list of the gifts the Lord has given you and the talents you have worked to cultivate.
3. Speak and Act with Courage
Stand firm in your values and beliefs. Sharing your testimony, defending truth, and setting an example of faith will help others find strength and light. Practice having a voice. Write out what you want to say then say it out loud, just to yourself. Doing this can build your confidence when you decide to share your thoughts and experiences with others.
4. Prioritize Personal Revelation
Make time for prayer, scripture study, and temple worship. Seeking personal revelation helps you navigate challenges and fulfill your divine mission with clarity and peace. Be open to receiving direction from the Lord. Ask specific questions, like “What is the next correct step for me to take in this situation?” Then make time to listen.
5. Cultivate Joy and Gratitude
A joyful heart and a grateful spirit can be contagious. By choosing optimism and finding joy in the journey, you can reflect Christ’s love to those around you. Start a daily gratitude or joy journal. Write down 3 things you are grateful for or feel joy about and your why. Notice what happens when you spend time each day focused on these things.
6. Lift Others with Love
Encouraging, supporting, and loving those in your circle fosters an atmosphere of light. By being inclusive and compassionate, you help others recognize their own divine potential. Identify one person in your circle who needs some attention. Consider, with the Lord, how you can show them some love this week.
Pick one of these 6 and decide what specific action you are going to take this week to intentionally embrace letting your light shine. Pay attention to what happens as you do, what impact this has on your self-esteem. As you let your light shine, you glorify God, increase your self-esteem, and become a beacon of hope and faith for others.
