3 Ways to Experience More Joy
The Lord has told us that we “are that we might have Joy.” (2 Nephi 2:25) And yet, balancing spiritual growth, family responsibilities, and personal well-being can be both rewarding and challenging. Here are three ways we can experience deeper, more lasting joy in our daily lives:
1. Strengthen Your Relationship with God
True joy stems from a deep connection with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Here’s how to nurture that relationship:
Daily Prayer: Conversations with God. Try visualizing a that you are talking with a loving Heavenly Father. See Him smiling, eager to hear from you. And take time to listen at the conclusion of your prayer.
Peaceful Heart: I have found this to be a way to measure my alignment with the Lord’s will. If I’m using my gifts, talents, and abilities to love as He would have me my heart is at peace.
Service to Others: As you serve others, you emulate Christ's example, which brings a profound sense of fulfillment.
2. Prioritize Balance and Self-Care
We often juggle numerous responsibilities, from church callings to family life. Here are ways to maintain balance:
Set Boundaries: Recognize that you don’t have to do everything at once. Prioritize tasks and learn to say "no" when needed.
Embrace Sabbath Rest: The Sabbath isn’t just for spiritual renewal but also physical and emotional replenishment.
Pursue Hobbies and Talents: Cultivating your interests not only enriches your life but also allows you to contribute more meaningfully to your family and community.
3. Foster Relationships Within Your Circle
Joy often flourishes in meaningful relationships:
Connect with Your Family: Slow down. Be present in the time that you spend with your spouse and children.
Build Sisterhood: As women we need connections with each other, responding in empathy, sharing humor, and showing love, especially in struggle.
Allow Others to Support You: When you allow others to support you, you deepen connections and give others opportunities to use their gifts and talents.
